The Tears, Trials, and Trusting In Transition
Transition. A word I’m seeing a whole lot amongst friends both virtually and in real life. With today being the first official day of Fall, I can’t help but notice that as the seasons shift physically, there is something happening spiritually. How many of you feel like you’re in transition?I want to talk about a few different stages in transition that stick out to me the most. Those are the moments where tears seem endless, trials feel unbearable and trusting in God is the only thing you have left in you to do.I’m a firm believer that transition happens for several reasons, but one of the main ones being growth. While we are transitioning from one thing to another, we are also learning new things through that process. There are so many types of transitions in life, for example, relocating, starting a new job, new relationships, you get the picture. These types of transitions not only provoke a physical shift but a shift in posture and attitude. Your posture in how you approach this season will determine the fruit of it. What do I mean by posture? Your posture in the midst of something, pretty much indicates your perspective while in the season you currently find yourself. This means that independent of what you’re transitioning from or to, your perspective will not be tampered with because you know who is in control. God will not allow you to go through something just “because”. He is a God that cares and is ordering your steps, if you’re allowing him to do so.
“The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way;” Psalm 37:23
I feel like I have been through several points of transition in the past 2 years. As I reach new levels in life, I recognize how important it is for me to focus, even when the tears of growing pains try to blur my vision. Transition doesn’t always feel good. Often times we feel like we’re dying to a version of ourselves we thought we were happy with. I remember in the beginning stages of when my husband passed away, I told God “what now?”, as if there was no longer a story to tell with my life as a young widow. I was challenged in more ways than I could possibly share in one blog post. With every tear I shed, I had to hold on to the fact that this was not the end of me.
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book”Psalm 56:8
Transition isn't always seamless, actually half the time it's quite bumpy and unclear. Yup, I know it all too well. There are so many trials in life that come in form of tests that we must past in order to experience God on a new level. Aligning ourselves to the will of God doesnt mean its going to be perfect. He always gives us a choice to choose him, and after all, he is a gentlemen therefore he won’t force you to do anything.
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness”James 1:2-3
There’s something about going through transition that causes you to either feel like God is nowhere to be found or like you’re all alone in it. Those are the moments where trusting the God in you is most important. These silent moments birth a faith in you that no other circumstance could teach you. We have bought into this notion that God is always there to hold our hands and baby us, when in fact, he wants to see if we trust him. God abides in us at all times, and when we are in relationship with him we can trust that he would never lead us in the wrong direction. His grace is so sufficient that even when we do make a turn we weren’t supposed to take, he covers that and redirects our path.[ctt template="4" link="8kvwe" via="yes" ]These silent moments birth a faith in you that no other circumstance could teach you.[/ctt]I want to encourage you to know that God is with you in the midst of your transition. He has not forgotten about you and the desires of your heart. He cares to see you thrive in your relationships, business and life. The presence of our tears and trials doesn’t mean we’ve been disqualified from God’s grace but rather He has trusted us to witness the grace in the middle of it all. If you find yourself in some sort of transition, I’ve created this checklist for thriving in transition. Go through this checklist and write down the things that you may need to either invest in, organize or read up on, in order to be fully equipt and position yourself for your next assignment. You already know in the video below I am simply sharing further thoughts on my experience while transitioning from one season to another. What have you learned in your season of transition?
